October is Halloween month, so it is time to talk about Vampires. Well, not really, but we are going to talk about Vampire wines from Vampire Vineyards. Specifically, 2015 Vampire Pinot Noir from Napa, CA. I bought this wine specifically for its label and to see if, like their namesake, Vampire Wines don't have a reflection in the mirror. Check out the picture below, apparently they don't (well not when photo shop is involved at least). Everyone likes vampires, and there are so many kinds of them now. You have the sparkly teenage vampires from Twilight, to the brooding and handsome Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in Interview With a Vampire, and who can forget Wesley snipes as the comic book action hero vampire in Blade. Just like in the movies, vampire winery makes several different vampire-themed wines. They even make an adorable Halloween cape for wine.

This is a fun wine. It was fruity (not sweet), and definitely something I would enjoy after an evening of trick-or-treating or giving out candy to neighborhood ghouls and ghosts (we have a lot of girls in the neighborhood, so more like all the little Elsas and Cinderellas). It is not overly complex, but like I said, it is fun. You get nice aromas of ripe berries. Think rasberries, strawberries and a bit of cherry. It is a very fruit forward wine with minimal tannins. Definitely not the muscular tannins of a big shiraz or Cabernet. Sorry, like I said in a previous post, I just like saying muscular tannins! It gives a lot more than I expected from a wine I chose completely for the name and fun label.

I recommend this wine if you are looking for a fun, fruit forward wine for Halloween.
It goes for around $12 and comes with endless vampire puns!
Stay tuned for more Halloween wines!
